What is considered a burn?
Burns are categorically the most common type of injury in the household, especially among children. It gets the name 'burn' from the sensation that is produced during the injury. They are characterized by severe skin damage that causes the skin cells to die. Most burns can be put into one of three levels of severity based on the amount of damage and depth of the burn. These levels are:
- First Degree - looks like red, non-blistered skin
